Thermalright SLK-947U without fan
The SLK-900U is already the best on the market, but Thermalright's found a way to further perfect a masterpiece. With Thermalright's newest modification to the SLK-900U, you'll devolop a whole new kind of love for inanimate objects, particularly the SLK-947U (yes, that's U for universal...which means it's for both the P4 and Socket A!!!). Thermaliright has incorporated design changes to improve compatibility over SLK-900U for all sockets. The dramatically improved compatibility with AMD-based systems the SLK-947U offers has lead it to supplant the 900U in Thermalright's lineup for use in AMD-based systems.
However, the changes made to the unit are not only meant to minimize compatibility problems with AMD systems, they also improve compatibility with Intel P4 systems as well.
The slightly reduced length and the new arched angle of the re-contoured fins offer much more clearance around the processor socket, especially for tall capacitors. The base plate has also been redesigned to fully cover new CPU IHS as well as lower the center mass. This results in significantly reducing the torque effect on the motherboard PCB and creates a better thermal transfer platform, without having to sacrifice thermal capacity!
The mounting bracket design has also changed to a square shape and include and extra set of mounting holes to better fit the p4 systems without being forced to use the standard p4 heatsink retention bracket.
